I have been following this little girl’s story for awhile now. She is a 2 year old from Cypress, TX with neuroblastoma. Sadly, she is in her final days. I read her mom’s blog and twitter updates throughout the day, amazed by Layla’s strength, the magnitude of love from her family, and the amazing prayers and support little Layla has gotten from all over the world. I don’t know Layla’s family personally, but my heart is heavy with saddness as if she is one of my own. My friend and fellow photographer, Christie Lacy, opened her heart and photographed Layla and her family. Christie is also offering “Parties for Layla”, with proceeds to go to Layla’s family. If any of my clients in the Houston area have friends in the Cypress area, please share with them this opportunity to help this amazing family and to work with a great photographer. Please see this link for more details. Parties for Layla.
You can read more about little miss Layla Grace in her blog. Or you can follow her on Twitter.

Inside are a set of custom printed “Thank You” cards that all new moms need, as well as a postcard with their exclusive offer with Reminisce Studios. I was fortunate to have 2 amazing birth experiences with Beth at Gentle Beginnings, that it only seemed fitting to forge a special business relationship with her and provide exceptional portraiture to her clients.

I am passing along a call for donations to the Women’s Shelter of South Texas. They were chosen as one of the foundations to receive a 100% match on all donations received today. Your donation goes directly to victims of domestic violence and sexual assault so they can receive free services to improve their life and the lives of their families. Be an active part in the movement to end the epidemic of domestic and sexual violence, give adult and child victims the hope for a brighter tomorrow.
Here are how donations at various giving levels benefit the Women’s Shelter of South Texas:
· $5 provides a healthy breakfast, lunch and dinner for a mother and her three children staying in our shelter for one day.
· $25 educates 44 youth about the dangers of dating and sexual violence in our community through our primary prevention programming.
· $100 allows a child or adult domestic violence or sexual assault victim to receive 4 ½ sessions of one on one counseling with a licensed counselor on our staff.
To get involved and donate, simply go to www.coastalbenddayofgiving.org. Look for the “Donate Now” button and select the Women’s Shelter of South Texas as the agency you would like to support.
